Common questions

Straight answers, before you call.

Most people arrive here with the same handful of questions about how an independent brokerage actually works. Here they are, answered plainly. If yours is not here, call (832) 413-5019 and ask.

Is Snug Harbor an insurance company?

No. We are an independent brokerage. We do not underwrite policies — we place them with licensed carriers and then stay in the middle for the life of the policy. When something goes wrong, you call us, not an 800 number.

Who do you actually work for — me or the carrier?

You. We are paid a commission by whichever carrier writes the policy, which is standard across the industry, but we are not tied to any one of them. We have nothing to gain by steering you somewhere that does not fit, and we will tell you when the policy you already have is the one to keep.

What states do you cover?

We help clients explore coverage across a broad network of insurance markets. Tell us where you live, own property, or do business, and we will confirm availability and who will handle your request. Options vary by state, carrier, and coverage type.

Who will I be talking to?

You will have a direct contact for your insurance questions. We will make clear who is handling your request and help coordinate the next steps, whether you need coverage in one state or several.

What kinds of insurance do you write?

Home, auto, landlord and dwelling fire, boat, motorcycle, golf cart, umbrella, life and business coverage. The full list, and what each one actually covers, is on Coverage We Write.

My home was non-renewed. Can you help?

We can review your situation and help you explore available alternatives. Share your renewal notice, timing, and property details with us. Options depend on your location, property, and the carriers currently writing coverage.

Do I have to move all my policies to you?

No. Plenty of clients start with one policy. If bundling makes sense later we will say so, and if it does not we will not push it.

What do you need from me to run a quote?

The property address, a copy of your current declarations page if you have one, and the names and dates of birth of anyone on the policy. If you do not have the dec page, we can usually work from less.

I am already a client and need proof of insurance.

ID cards and certificates are in Client Center, and you can sign in from the link in the navigation. If it is faster to just ask, call or email and we will send them.

Is Snug Harbor licensed?

Yes. We're a licensed independent insurance brokerage. We help you compare options and understand your coverage, with a real person to guide you along the way. You'll find our licensing details in the footer.
